A Happy Birthday & A Goodbye!

It’s StyleMelbourne’s 7th Birthday today…and also its last.

Time to break out the cake and Champagne for this dual occasion. I’m excited and, of course, a little bit wistful about it. The evolution of StyleMelbourne will be revealed very soon. Stay tuned to Instagram for the big reveal (Facebook or Twitter too). While the new site will have a new look, name and direction (there will still be fashion – however it will be restricted to the crème de la crème) this one will remain as an archive of the last seven years of style and a fashionable life in Melbourne.

Fashion, blogging and the Australian fashion blogging scene have transformed vastly in the past few years. When I began there were only a handful of established style blogs in Melbourne that I can recall – maybe Lady Melbourne, Fashion Hayley & Super Kawaii Mama – they all influenced me in their own ways. Now there is a cast of thousands utilising their online space as creative outlets which is wonderful. However, I’ve always tended to stray from the path. Combine this factor with contributing to plenty of other writing, editing and styling projects behind the scenes and it seems like a opportune time for a change. I do hope you’ll join me.

StyleMelbourne has provided wonderful experiences from being the pure fun of being flown to Sydney and Broome for a photoshoots and judging on various fashion panels to the privilege of experiencing aspects of this city that few might ever see and championing new local designers. I’d like to say a never-ending thank you to the friends I’ve made along the way (even the, rare, no-so-friendly have added their own brand of “colour” and life lessons), to the inspirational creatives I’ve met, to the photographers and writers who’ve graciously lent a hand here and to those who have kindly invited me to be a part of their own projects: it’s been the time of my life! And thank you for reading.

x
